Lifeguard
training candidates must be at least 15 years of age, able to
demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and
breaststroke, and able to retrieve a submerged 10 lb weight from 7 feet
of water, then swim 20-yards with the weight using legs only within 1
minute 40 seconds. Lifeguard Training Fact SheetUpon successful course completion, lifeguard training candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard and Standard First Aid certificate valid for 3 years, and a CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer certificate valid for 1 year.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Water Safety Instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age, able to demonstrate proficiency in six strokes Front crawl (freestyle), back crawl (backstroke), elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, and butterfly - 25 yards per stroke and tread water for 1 minute.Upon successful course completion, Water Safety Instructor candidates will receive an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate valid for 2 years, and a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) valid for 2 years.

Upon successful completion of the challenge (100% practical skills 80% written tests), candidates will receive an American Red Cross CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer certificate valid for 1 year.

What to Bring to Class
Bathing
suit and towel (one piece swim suit for females), a pen or pencil,
paper for notes, lunch or lunch money, a meal break will be offered on
full-day training days, duration and time of breaks will be determined
by the instructor. A self addressed stamped envelop, certification
cards will be mailed to participants within 7 business days after
completion of the course. CPR pocket mask, or participants may purchase
a mask at the class for $15, CPR mask is not needed for WSI class.
Program Policies
NO REFUNDS
will be issued once course fees have been submitted. In the event that a participant is unable to pass the prerequisites or final exams the participant may transfer to a class at a later date (if available) for a transfer fee of $50.
If a participant is absent from any scheduled class days or
times, the participant will not be offered a transfer or refund of any
kind. NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN AT ALL!
