The Water Safety Instructor course certifies swimming instructors to teach Red Cross swimming, diving and water safety programs. WSI Certification Fact Sheet

WSI Class Prerequisites: Minimum age of 16 years old. Demonstrate proficiency in six strokes: front crawl (freestyle), back crawl (backstroke), elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, and butterfly – 25 yards per stroke. Tread water for 1 minute.

WSI Certification Requirements: Attend all class sessions (Sat & Sun 8AM-5PM); demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities; correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions in the final written exam.

WSI Certificates Issued: Upon successful course completion, Water Safety Instructor candidates will receive an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification valid for 2 years, and a Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) certificate.

Water Safety Instructor Classes 2014 – Classes fill up quick, register early!

Each class number is a complete course, participants need to attend one weekend (Sat & Sun) to get certified.

Class Fee: $195

Certification Fee: $28 (paid directly to the Red Cross)

Program Policies

Vistors- Only registered participants are allowed on the pool deck or in the class rooms during training. All visitors including parents must wait in the parking lot.

Refunds – No refunds will be issued once course fees have been submitted. In the event that a participant is unable to pass the prerequisites or final exams the participant may transfer to a class at a later date (if available). If a participant is absent from any scheduled class days or times, the participant will not be offered a transfer or refund of any kind.

Transfers- The class transfer fee is $40 and registered participants are required to notify Safe Swim at least 48 hours prior to the first class date that you are currently registered for in order to be eligible to transfer.
